The most important stage of a dental implant is the planning stage. This involves assessing your general health, a full dental exam, x-rays and pictures and then assessing your suitability for treatment. Any alternative treatment options will also be given to you at this stage.

Once we have decided to continue with the dental implant, the implant is placed in your jawbone in a single appointment in the dental surgery. In order for the implant to fuse to your jawbone, we need to allow time for the area to heal. This can take weeks to months.

Once the implant dentist feels the area is healed, an impression will be taken of the area and your new crown, bridge or denture will be made and fitted to the dental implant.
