Clear aligners straighten teeth with a series of thin, transparent trays made to fit your mouth. There are no wires or brackets, and you take them out to eat, drink and brush.

Suitable cases

Aligners work well for mild to moderate problems, including crowded teeth, gaps and teeth that are out of line. Some bite problems are better treated with fixed braces. At your consultation we scan your teeth and explain which option we would recommend, and why.

Treatment steps

1. Consultation. We check your teeth and gums, take a digital scan and talk you through aligners and braces.
2. Your plan. If aligners suit you, we give you a written, fully costed treatment plan before anything starts.
3. Wearing your aligners. You wear them for around 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat, drink and brush, and move on to each new set as your plan sets out.
4. Reviews. You come in for review appointments so we can check your teeth are moving as planned.
5. Retainers. Once your teeth are in position, retainers keep them there.

Aligners or braces

Treatment time

It depends on how much your teeth need to move. Most treatment takes 9 to 18 months: straightforward cases are quicker, and more complex straightening takes longer. We’ll tell you your expected treatment time at your consultation.

Retainers

Teeth tend to drift back over time, so you’ll need to wear retainers, usually overnight, for as long as you want your teeth to stay straight. Fixed or removable retainers are included in the price of your treatment.

Fees
