Time to Change the Electric Toothbrush Head

19th January 2019

blog inner thumb : The Edge dental

An electric toothbrush is excellent for cleaning those awkward areas between teeth but it is, after all, just a toothbrush and will wear out just like an ordinary brush. The dentist generally recommends changing toothbrushes every three to four months and the same rule applies to an electric toothbrush head.

Over these few months:
– Bristles become worn
– The brush becomes less effective
– Bacteria can build up

The brush head should also be replaced after any treatments for cavities, tooth decay or gum disease as harmful bacteria “may still be present on your toothbrush” and lead to re-infection. More information on when to change an electric toothbrush head can be found at https://yourdentalhealthresource.com/when-should-i-replace-my-electric-toothbrush-head/.
