Carly Dixon graduated from Newcastle University in 2012 before continuing further training in Paediatric Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Restorative and Special Care Dentist as a Dental Core Trainee at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester.
During this time, she completed her Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (MFDS).
Since 2015, Carly has solely focused her passion on the management of Paediatric patients, undertaking a Master of Research (MRes DPH) with her published research on the management of anxious paediatric patients under sedation.
She joined the University of Manchester as Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry in 2017, undertaking her Specialist Training in posts across the Northwest Including the University Dental Hospital of Manchester, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. She was made a Fellow of the Higher Education of Teaching and gained a PGCert in Higher Education in 2019.
Carly is extensively involved in Undergraduate and Post Graduate teaching and research in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Manchester. Publishing in several peer-reviewed journals, along with national and international presentations.
An active member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, she is currently completing her PhD exploring digital innovations to improve children’s oral health. Carly’s passion is instilling a positive experience for children in attending the dentist, especially those who are anxious or have limited previous experience.
