Receded Gums and Gum Disease
31st October 2018
When the gums start to draw away from the teeth, it should be taken as a warning sign that something is amiss. Although there may be a simple reason and a simple remedy, receding gums are something that should be treated by a dentist sooner rather than later.
In the majority of cases, receding gums are a symptom of gum (periodontal) disease. When caught and treated early periodontal disease is very treatable. When left untreated, it can lead to:
– Infections
– Loose teeth
– Tooth loss
The more advanced periodontal disease becomes “the harder it is to treat” so treatment should be sought immediately.
