A missing tooth rarely stays a small problem. It can change the way you eat, make you self-conscious about smiling in photos, and, left long enough, allow neighbouring teeth to drift and the jawbone beneath the gap to shrink. For patients in Alderley Edge and the surrounding area, dental implants offer a permanent, natural-looking way to address this — and The Edge Dental’s implant-focused team is here to guide you through the process.
What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone, acting as a replacement root for a missing tooth. Once the implant has integrated with the bone, a natural-looking crown, bridge or denture is fixed on top. Because the implant stands independently, healthy neighbouring teeth are left untouched — unlike a bridge, which relies on adjacent teeth for support.
This makes implants the closest option available to a natural tooth: a fixed, stable result that allows patients to bite, chew and speak with confidence.
Who Are Implants Suitable For?
Dental implants can address a range of situations, including:
Even where bone loss has already occurred, techniques such as bone grafting and sinus lifts can rebuild the foundation needed to support an implant. Most patients with one or more missing teeth are suitable candidates, and no referral from a general dentist is required — patients can book directly with The Edge Dental for an initial assessment.
Full-Arch Solutions and Implant-Supported Dentures
For patients missing multiple teeth, or currently living with dentures that move during eating or speaking, implants can be used to secure a fixed bridge or a stable, implant-supported denture. This removes the need for adhesives and reduces the slipping associated with conventional dentures, restoring bite strength and day-to-day comfort.
Support for Nervous Patients
Anxiety around dental treatment is common, and The Edge Dental offers sedation options for patients who need them, including inhalation sedation and intravenous (IV) sedation. The practice’s implant lead has a particular interest in supporting nervous patients through treatment, in a small setting away from crowded waiting rooms.
Oral Surgery, In-House
Implant treatment sometimes requires preparatory surgical work. The Edge Dental provides this in-house, including:
This means patients are not referred elsewhere for the surgical stages of their treatment.

What Does Treatment Cost?
Implants at The Edge Dental start from £1,500. The total cost for any individual case depends on factors such as the number of implants required, whether a crown, bridge or denture is needed, and whether preparatory work such as bone grafting is necessary.
Every patient receives a full assessment at their consultation along with a clear, written quote with no hidden costs.
The Edge Dental offers free implant consultations, with no referral required. Patients can contact the practice directly to arrange an assessment and discuss their options with the implant team.
