Exceptional Dental Care with Extended Hours

27th January 2021

blog inner thumb : The Edge dental

That’s right, we are still offering exceptional dental care and have extended our hours to incorporate dental emergencies and to provide our patients with the highest quality dental care when it suits them best. Our team of experienced dentists in Alderley Edge offers the latest techniques in preventative dental care, cosmetic, and specialist dental treatments.

At The Edge Dental, we provide all the usual services you would expect from an exceptional dentist, such as check-ups, fillings, root canal treatment, teeth extractions, dentures, and children’s dentistry. We aim is to provide a family-friendly dental service in a relaxed environment to ensure your visit is a pleasant and happy experience, always.

This general dentistry provision is offered alongside cosmetic dental treatments, such as teeth whitening, veneers, and bridges. As well as top quality orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign and even facial aesthetics. You may think facial aesthetics would be more in place in a beauty parlour, but our clinicians are experts in facial anatomy, not just gums, and teeth. We have exceptional standards of care and our clinicians have carried out extensive research in their field offering services they are fully qualified in.

Our Team

Our principal dentist is Dr Rizwan Khawaja, also known as Riz by his patients, who graduated from the University of Manchester in 2010. Since then, Riz has worked across Liverpool and Cheshire amassing a vast array of experience in all aspects of dentistry. He has a particular passion for cosmetic dentistry, where he enjoys seeing the transformation of smiles seen in his patients and the joy it can bring them.

Riz, and the team of experienced dental professionals, here at The Edge Dental, keep abreast of all the latest evidence-based techniques and technological advances. This is reflected in the cutting-edge technology and outstanding treatments that are experienced by our patients here at our practice.

General Dentistry

If you need to see the dentist because you are in pain or have been putting off some dental work, it’s best to contact the practice straight away so we can get you on our list to be seen. We offer dental emergencies if you are in serious pain or have a loose filling or chipped or lost tooth. The number to call for emergencies is 01625 599 001 or 07808 529 208.

Fillings

Sometimes you can need a filling if there is tooth decay or a broken tooth. We are a mercury-free dental practice. We offer composite fillings, also known as ‘tooth-coloured fillings.’ These are both more aesthetically pleasing and offer high durability. Our team of professionals is well versed in providing fillings and you can relax knowing you are in safe hands.

Children’s Examinations

We recommend bringing your children to see us as early as possible. Visiting the dentist can seem like a daunting experience for little ones and the sooner they come to see us the earlier they will realise there is nothing to worry about.

We would advise dental check-ups are done every six months from the time you spot their first teeth coming through. These regular check-ups are vital in preventing tooth decay and it means we could identify any issues with the teeth or gums straight away.

If at least one of the parents is registered as a ‘Practice Plan’ patient, then your child can be seen for free under the age of 16 years.

New Patient Examinations

For new patients, we like to offer a one-hour consultation. This is because we want to get to know you as a whole and not just your mouth. During the initial consultation, you will be provided with a full oral cancer check, gum health check, x-rays, and photos.

You will be given the time to talk about any concerns you may have about your oral health or the appearance of your teeth. If you are considering any treatments, you will be given all the options and information, as well as any costs involved broken down, so there are no nasty surprises.

You will also receive a full report of the findings and be advised how to look after your teeth at home. The aim is to make sure you have a healthy mouth, which in turn reduces your need for treatment in the future.

Root Canal Treatment

This is often one of the most feared dental treatments, but we want to disprove that myth by providing pain-free and easy root canal work for our patients if they need it. The treatment is used to treat an infection at the centre of the tooth. If left untreated it can lead to a dental abscess. Root canal treatment is carried out over a few visits, but the treatment should not hurt and doesn’t feel any different from having a filling.

Tooth Extraction

We always try our utmost to save teeth but occasionally this is not possible, and an extraction is needed. Before extraction we will tell you about the procedure and what to expect, any risks, and options to restore the gap.

Impacted wisdom teeth are a common cause for extraction and if you are concerned about your wisdom teeth, we can give you a full examination and x-rays to decide the best course of action for you.

For more complicated cases we have our resident oral and maxillofacial surgeon on hand, who can deal with complex cases and these can be completed under local anaesthetic with or without sedation.

Dentures

If you feel limited to what you can eat or drink, or perhaps you are losing confidence due to missing teeth, please don’t suffer in silence. Advances in technology mean that dentures can offer an attractive and effective solution to tooth loss.

If you have some teeth still intact, partial dentures can be fitted. It will take several appointments to make sure the dentures are a perfect fit and feel comfortable but our Principal dentist, Riz, has fitted many dentures over the years and enjoys providing life-changing solutions to his patients.

Scale, Polish and Gum Disease Treatment

A professional clean at your dentist is a great way to remove plaque and tartar from the harder to reach areas. A routine scale and polish involves your dentist using a special tool and water to remove any stubborn staining and tartar. This is followed by a polish, which leaves your teeth feeling smoother and looking cleaner and brighter.

We can also offer you tailored advice on how to look after your teeth at home.

Stain removal (Airflow)

This is fast becoming one of our most popular treatments. It is a simple and cheap way of removing stubborn everyday stains from your teeth, which build up over time.

If you would like to find out more about any of the general dentistry treatments above or if you would like to join an exceptional dentist in Cheshire. We are accepting new patients and hope you will contact us on 01625 599 001 or fill in our online enquiry form.

We look forward to providing you with the service and high-quality treatments that we would wish for our own family and loved ones in these difficult times. We are open to see new patients with Covid-19 safety regulations in place.
