Do you feel confident and happy with your smile? If the answer is no, then you are not alone. According to a study by Study Finds in 2019, half of British adults hate smiling because they feel their teeth are in poor condition.

There is no better time to do something about your smile if you are not happy with it. Affordable options for improving your smile are now commonplace in many dentists. Here, at The Edge Dental, our most popular treatment for improving a person’s smile is teeth straightening. Adult braces are becoming increasingly popular, and they are a natural option to create a straight and healthy smile, without the need to drill healthy tooth tissue as is required for crowns and veneers.

Dr Nadeem Ahmed is our resident dentist with a specialist interest in orthodontics after many years of advanced training in the field. He has 26 years’ experience and has helped thousands of patients become happy with their smile. We offer a host of teeth straightening options in Alderley Edge. These are tailored to patient’s needs, such as the quickest method, the most cost-effective method, or the most convenient method, for example.

Fixed Cosmetic Braces

If you have twisted, crooked or protruding teeth or gaps between your teeth that you would like to fix, then fixed cosmetic braces are a great option. Small, ceramic blocks are fixed to the teeth with dental adhesive and wires, and elastics are attached. All the components are tooth-coloured, which makes them aesthetically pleasing. The teeth are moved into the desired position effectively, and wires are adjusted approximately every month.

Treatment time does vary depending on what needs achieving, but it can be anywhere from 3-24 months. Once the treatment is complete, you will have fixed and removable retainers to ensure your teeth remain in the same position.

Fixed Lingual Braces

These intelligent braces act in the same way as traditional braces do when moving teeth, which is considered a very reliable method. However, the smart part is that fixed lingual braces go on the inside surface of the teeth. This means the braces are completely invisible to everyone else. You can carry on your life, without the need for anyone to even know you are having your teeth straightened.

Invisalign – Clear Aligners

Having worldwide renowned success, Invisalign has been hitting the headlines for all the right reasons. The ground-breaking, orthodontic treatment can straighten teeth in as little time as six months, and you will start to see results within weeks.

Initially, you will have a 3D digital scan of your teeth. This is where your dentist can map out how the teeth should move. You will even be able to see how your teeth will look at the end of your treatment.

Secondly, a series of entirely bespoke clear, plastic-type aligners are created for you. You will wear these aligners for between 22-24 hours per day for the best results. You will receive the next aligner in the series every three weeks. The aligners will gently but effectively move the teeth to where they are supposed to be.

There is no pain with the treatment, only a little tightness sometimes when you get the next aligner in the series. This is completely normal and means the aligners are doing their job.

Invisalign is a very discreet method of teeth straightening, and many people won’t notice you are wearing them at all. They are convenient, and you can remove them easily, enabling you to keep up with excellent oral hygiene routines. You can remove them to eat and drink your favourite foods, and you can even take them out for any special events if you wish. However, they are so discreet that many people leave them in for the designated 24 hours. It provides the best and fastest results.
